Job summary

St. Anne’s Family Services in Los Angeles seeks a Residential Counselor to supervise and guide residents in daily routines, creating a therapeutic, safe environment for mothers and youth in the STRTP program.

This role supports pregnant and parenting young women, ages 13-18, within foster care and juvenile justice contexts. The position requires appropriate degrees or permits, a valid California Driver’s License, and experience with trauma-informed care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related degree.
• Valid Child Development Teaching Permit.
• 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, Foster and Kinship Care Education, or Psychology with at least 100 hours on-the-job experience with youth.
• Valid certificate as an Alcohol/Drug Counselor with at least 100 hours of youth work.
• Valid vocational training certificate or credential demonstrating trade skills with at least 100 hours of youth-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision, protection and care of residents individually and in groups.
• Assist residents in group dynamics and addressing individual problems.
• Document residents’ progress and communicate needs to professional staff.
• Ensure safety of residents during transport to appointments as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality per agency policies and HIPAA.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work

Valid California Child Development Teaching Permit

12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, Foster and Kinship Care Education, or Psychology + 100 hours on-the-job experience with youth

Valid Alcohol/Drug Counselor certificate + 100 hours youth experience

Vocational training certificate with 100 hours youth mentoring/teaching
