Job summary

YWCA Spokane is seeking an ECEAP Assistant Teacher to support a preschool classroom in Airway Heights. The role carries a 40-hour work week, scheduled 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with non-exempt status and health benefits.

Under Lead Teacher guidance, you will implement curriculum aligned with ECEAP Performance Standards, assist with family communications, and help maintain accurate records while supporting a trauma-informed, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• An Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or an Associate’s Degree with 12 ECE credits is required.
• Experience teaching preschool-age children (2.5-5 years of age); experience in ECEAP, Head Start preferred.
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of child development theories and practices including child development, developmentally appropriate practices, observations, and ongoing assessment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in planning developmentally appropriate curriculum for preschool aged children including lesson plans, ongoing evaluation, and documenting progress.
• Assist with storage and maintenance of educational equipment, supplies, and classroom safety.
• Support documentation for child files and communication with families; assist with reports and attendance.
