Job summary

The Mental Health Therapist (MHT) – Registered Play Therapist (RPT) at Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe provides strengths-based, culturally responsive, trauma-informed therapy in an outpatient setting for eligible Native Americans, focusing on children, adolescents, and families.

Responsibilities include assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, counseling, crisis intervention, and continuity of care, using play therapy and evidence-based interventions while honoring tribal values and community

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with emphasis in psychology, mental health counseling or social work.
• Current SD licensure as LP, LMFT, LPC, LPC-MH, MSW, CSW, or CSW-PIP.
• Current Registered Play Therapist.
• Two years minimum clinical work experience as an MHT.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide strengths-based, trauma-informed therapy in outpatient settings.
• Utilize play therapy and evidence-based interventions for children, adolescents and families.
• Perform assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, counseling, case management, crisis intervention, and continuity of care.
• Maintain Registered Play Therapist credential and practice in line with licensure and competencies.
• Honor cultural traditions, values, family systems and community in care.
