Job summary

The Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe is seeking a Mental Health Therapist (MHT) – Registered Play Therapist (RPT) to provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed outpatient therapy for Native American clients, with focus on children, adolescents, and families.

The role emphasizes evidence-based play therapy, assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and collaboration with tribal services, all while upholding licensure standards.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in psychology, mental health counseling, or social work.
• Current SD licensure: LP, LMFT, LPC, LPC-MH, MSW, CSW, or CSW-PIP.
• Current Registered Play Therapist (RPT).
• At least two years of professional clinical experience as an MHT.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide strengths-based, trauma-informed mental health services in outpatient settings.
• Deliver play therapy and other developmentally appropriate interventions.
• Perform assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, counseling, and case management.
• Provide crisis intervention and continuity of care.
• Honor tribal cultural traditions and community in service delivery.
