Job summary

Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is seeking compassionate Child and Family Services Specialists (CFSS) in Grand Island. You will provide trauma-informed case management to families, assess safety, and work with communities to promote permanency for children.

The role involves home visits, collaboration with legal systems, and periodic travel within Nebraska. A bachelor’s degree and a valid driver’s license are required, with on-going training and opportunities for professional

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, mental health care, education, criminal justice, or other related fields. Consideration given to those in final semester.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in child welfare, juvenile justice and/or case management.
• Other: Valid Driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a case manager for families referred to DHHS.
• Conduct home visits and comprehensive safety assessments.
• Advocate for the well-being of children and families while respecting diversity.
• Collaborate with legal system and partners to support permanency goals.
• Utilize SDM tools to inform safety planning and case decisions.
• Write timely, accurate documentation for internal and legal use.
