Job summary

The Eisenhower Center in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a Community Outing and Transportation Specialist to safely transport residents and participants while promoting independence and community integration.

You will operate wheelchair-accessible vehicles, support therapy goals, and ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and organizational standards within a trauma-informed care framework.

Qualifications

• The candidate must have a High School Diploma and legal driving credentials.
• Valid Michigan Chauffeur License or CDL as applicable and ability to obtain/maintain driving credentials.
• Ability to safely operate wheelchair-accessible vehicles and transportation equipment.
• Commitment to resident safety, customer service, and person-centered care.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport residents and participants between Eisenhower Center locations and community activities.
• Operate wheelchair-accessible vehicles and lift-equipped buses per safety regulations.
• Ensure all mobility devices are properly secured prior to operation.
• Conduct vehicle inspections and report mechanical concerns promptly.
• Support independence, community integration, and therapeutic engagement during transport.
• Maintain trauma-informed, patient-centered communication and de-escalation when needed.
