Job summary

University Medical Center of El Paso seeks an experienced RN to coordinate trauma education activities and ensure compliance with ACS and regional standards. You will work with course directors to schedule and manage ATLS, TNCC, ENPC, ATCN, STOP the Bleed, and related programs.

The role requires a critical care/trauma background, Texas RN license, and current BLS. Six-month instructor-level requirements for TNCC/ATCN/ENPC are expected after hire.

Qualifications

Job Summary

Coordinates education activities in accordance with American College of Surgeons (ACS) and New Mexico standards for maintaining Level 1 Trauma verification and designation. In conjunction with course directors, coordinate trauma courses, Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Regional Trauma Team Development Course (RRTDC), Advanced Trauma for Nurses (ATCN), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC), and STOP the Bleed. Coordination with Unit-Based Educators and Clinical Education to maintain and monitor current educational needs identified within the trauma program.

  • 4. Knowledgeable of educational program development and implementation.
  • 5. Knowledgeable of adult learning theory to enhance learners in acquiring knowledge, based on principles that adult learns are self-directed, attract learning heavily on past experiences, and are intrinsically motivated to learn when the content has immediate, real-world application.
  • 6. Ability to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with community agencies.
  • 7. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
  • 8. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
  • 9. Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Work Experience

Three years of experience as a Registered Nurse in Critical Care, Emergency and/or Trauma is required.

License/Registration/Certification

Current and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas is required.
Current BLS training is required.
Obtainment of the Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC), Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML), Nurse Executive (NE-BC) or approved critical care nursing certification is required within 3 years of being in the position.

Education and Training

Bachelor degree in Nursing is required. Master degree is preferred.
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) instructor level is required within six months of being in the position.
Advance Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) instructor level is required within six months of being in the position.
Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) instructor level is required to be obtained within six months of being in the position.
