Job summary

Albany Medical Center, part of Albany Med Health System, is seeking a Physician Assistant for the Acute Care Surgery & Critical Care (ACS&CC) team in the Emergency Department. The PA will provide clinical support during peak hours, collaborate with surgeons and residents, and deliver high-quality surgical care in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include ED consultations, wound care, trauma assessments, and coordination of discharges with follow-up.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in an accredited Physician Assistant program and NY licensure with NCCPA certification.
• BLs and ACLS certifications required; ATLS preferred.
• 1–2 years of surgical or inpatient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent the ACS&CC team in the Emergency Room as a provider.
• Provide back up for inpatient ACS APP providers on the surgical floors.
• Perform ED consultations with comprehensive assessments and histories.
• Deliver wound care and procedures in the ED as needed.
• Coordinate discharges and ensure follow-up care is arranged.
• Respond to Level 3 traumas and provide trauma consultations.
• Document encounters and procedures in the EMR accurately.
• Collaborate with surgeons, residents, and students to deliver care.
