Job summary

VCU Health is seeking a Trauma Registrar to support the adult and pediatric trauma programs and maintain the registry database for Level 1 verification by the Commonwealth of Virginia and the American College of Surgeons.

The role includes identification of cases for registry inclusion, abstraction from the electronic medical record and other data sources, and assigning ICD-10 diagnosis codes and AIS scores according to coding rules.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with MS Office software including email, Word, and Excel.
• Experience in medical data abstracting/coding preferred.
• Associate's Degree or higher with medical terminology and anatomy/physiology coursework required.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily chart reviews on specific patients and assigns ICD-10 and other codes.
• Enters data into the registry and interprets medical information.
• Maintains data quality through accurate and timely data entry and verification.
• Supports performance improvement activities and reporting to regulatory bodies.
