Job summary

Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, TX seeks a Trauma Registrar to maintain the Trauma Registry database and support performance improvement activities. The role involves data entry, analysis, and collaboration with the trauma team to enhance patient outcomes.

The position requires attention to detail, knowledge of medical terminology, and experience in emergency/trauma care. Training in injury scaling and data management is provided within 12 months of employment.

Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum 2-year college degree in medical profession
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • 2+ years of work experience in emergency/trauma care preferred
  • Proficient in computer skills, Microsoft applications and presentations
  • Completion of injury scaling course (AAAM/AIS Injury Scaling and/or equivalent) approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services within 12 months of employment
  • Completion of Trauma and Acute Care Foundation (TETAF) Hospital Data Management Course within 12 months of employment

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an accurate Trauma Registry database for performance improvement activities.
  • Assist with performance improvement activities, information requests, quality improvement studies and research projects.
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion within agreed upon limitations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in data collection and analysis.
  • Meet regularly with the Trauma Program Director/Manager.
  • Facilitate and participate in education of staff regarding trauma care.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare team members to improve patient outcomes.
  • Treat all information with appropriate confidentiality and security.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EMT- Intermediate or EMT-Paramedic
