Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Hillcrest in Waco, TX is seeking a Trauma / Critical Care Surgeon to join the Division of Acute Care Surgery and provide coverage at a Level II Trauma Center. The role emphasizes trauma and acute care surgery with on-call duties and APP support.

Candidates must be trauma and critical care trained, BC/BE in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care, and hold a Texas Medical License.

Qualifications

• MD/DO with board certification or eligibility in general surgery and surgical critical care.
• Fellowship in Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, or Acute Care Surgery.
• Texas Medical License.
• ATLS; BLS/ACLS; and PALS credentials.
• Experience managing trauma and critical care patients.

Responsibilities

• Shift-based coverage for trauma and acute care surgery.
• Join a six-surgeon team with two APPs for day-shift support on a 7-on/7-off schedule.
• Care for patients at a Level II Trauma Center in Waco, TX.
• Provide trauma and acute care surgery consults during on-call periods.
• Access to a dedicated 24-hour operating room for trauma cases.
• Opportunity for elective general surgery practice and robotic-assisted cases.

Position Information

• Shift-based position focused on trauma and acute care surgery coverage
• Join an established team as the sixth trauma surgeon
• Supported by two APPs who provide day-shift coverage on a 7-on/7-off schedule
• Privileges at our ACS-verified Level II Trauma Center in Waco, TX
• Responsible for trauma and acute care surgery consults while on call
• Dedicated 24-hour OR suite for trauma and acute care surgery cases
• Opportunity to provide surgical critical care coverage in the 24-bed ICU
• Home call for acute care surgery is possible
• Opportunity for an elective general surgery practice
• Laparoscopic surgery experience preferred
• Access to advanced robotic technology, including four da Vinci® robotic surgical systems
