Job summary

UTMB Health in Galveston, Texas invites applications for Surgery - Trauma Open Rank/Open Track Faculty. The role supports teaching, research, and patient care in the Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery, including ICU and in-house trauma coverage in Galveston and League City.

The position also entails supervising residents, participating in conferences, and contributing to CME, with administrative duties at departmental and health-system levels.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved medical school.
• Completed an approved residency in surgery.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Trauma Surgery.
• Texas Medical license without restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including ICU/critical care, surgery, consultative and outpatient services; participate in call coverage and in-house ICU/trauma coverage in Galveston and League City.
• Participate in teaching activities of the department, including conferences, bedside teaching and rounds; supervise house staff in OR, clinics and inpatient services; participate in CME and meetings.
• Administrative responsibilities include supervising and evaluating residents, providing medical direction, and serving on department and health-system committees.

Education

MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school
