Position Overview:
Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital, a Level I Regional Resource Trauma Center, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Trauma Acute Care Surgeon to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide exceptional surgical care to critically injured patients in one of Philadelphia's busiest trauma centers.
About Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital: Located in North Philadelphia, Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital is a 548-bed tertiary-care teaching hospital renowned for its commitment to patient care, education, and research. As part of the Einstein Healthcare Network, the hospital has been accredited as a Level I Trauma Center since 1987, serving a diverse community with broad ethnic, racial, and cultural backgrounds. Our mission is to deliver progressive, compassionate, and effective trauma care to seriously injured patients in our community.
Educational Requirements:
Residency: Completion of a General Surgery residency program.
Fellowship: Fellowship training in Trauma Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, or Surgical Critical Care.
Board Certification: Board certification or eligibility in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.
Licensure: Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Pennsylvania.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
Provide immediate assessment, resuscitation, and surgical intervention for patients presenting with acute traumatic injuries and emergent surgical diseases.
Surgical Procedures:
Perform trauma surgery, emergent general surgery and elective general surgery. Experience in MIS/robotic surgery is highly desired.
Critical Care Management: Oversee trauma and surgical patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit, ensuring optimal recovery and outcomes.
Collaboration:
Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
Education:
Engage in the education and mentorship of medical students, and residents, fostering a learning environment that emphasizes evidence-based practices.
Research: Participate in acute care surgery related research initiatives, contributing to advancements in the field and the dissemination of knowledge.?
Community Outreach: Support and participate in community programs aimed at injury prevention and health promotion.
Performance Improvement:
Actively engage in the trauma center's Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) program, contributing to the evaluation of care across disciplines, identification of opportunities for improvement, and implementation of corrective actions to enhance patient outcomes.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in trauma and acute care surgery within a high-volume trauma center.
Strong decision-making skills and the ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to collaborative team-based care.
Dedication to continuous professional development and staying abreast of the latest advancements in trauma care.
Demonstrated involvement in performance improvement initiatives within a trauma setting, with an understanding of processes aimed at decreasing variations from the standard of care and promoting optimal trauma outcomes.
