Work Shift: Days/Evenings (United States of America)
Location: Roper Hospital located at 316 Calhoun St, Charleston, SC 29401
Schedule: PRN (as needed): Candidate needs to be available anytime between the hours of 7:00am to 9:00pm every day of the week to include weekends.
Job Summary: Transports patients and materials throughout the hospital. May perform other activities related to transportation of patients as assigned and will respond to code situations within the facility. Performs duties outlined in the appraisal program according to established standards. Must be able to lift and pull, as well as walk during entire shift of duty.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge/Skills: Must become proficient in handling all types of transports within ninety (90) days. This includes transports such as total hips, knees, and handling stretchers alone. Requires the ability to communicate and work well with all levels of patients, the public, as well as other health care professionals.
Other: Professional and neat appearance is required to project a positive image of Roper St. Francis Healthcare. Must maintain strict confidentiality of all work-related information.
Contacts: Constant interactions with patients, nursing staff, support staff, and occasional contact with physicians, family members, and management.
Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, and stooping. Frequent lifting/moving patients. Intermittent lifting, moving, or carrying up to 50 lbs. Frequent pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Constant reaching with hands/arms. Frequent talking or hearing. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases, and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Intermittent exposure to risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Moderate noise level in work area. Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours. May be required to take call and/or work weekends/holidays based on the needs of the department.
