Job summary

Corpus Christi Medical Center is seeking a dedicated transporter to move patients safely within the hospital and to imaging areas. The role includes basic clerical duties and providing compassionate care while maintaining patient modesty and privacy.

Required BCLS and prior hospital transport experience are preferred. This position supports a team-based approach and emphasizes service excellence across patients, physicians, and staff.

Qualifications

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
  • Prior hospital-based patient transport experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate cooperation of hospital staff in a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Provide outstanding service to patients, physicians, employees and guests.
  • Identify and complete tasks, seek guidance when needed.
  • Maintain awareness of personal limitations and request guidance when appropriate.
  • Prioritize activities based on service demands.
  • Be vigilant for errors and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Respect patient rights, confidentiality, and informed decision-making.
  • Refer to available resources for ethical concerns as needed.
  • Practice cost-efficiency.
  • Perform technical skills per established standards and annual validations.
  • Transport patients to/from imaging areas and escort to hospital areas.
  • Assist file clerk with clerical duties.

Job Summary And Qualifications

Performs general clerical duties such as filing, answering phone, charting reports and processing requisitions. Provides a safe and efficient transfer or transportation of patients from one area within the hospital to another. Maintains work area and cost of supplies used. Always maintains patients’ modesty. Has the ability to transport patients with a multitude of additional equipment; intravenous and oxygen. Employees will be responsible for knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the neonate, infant child, adolescent, adult and geriatric population.

  • Supports the philosophy of HCA Corpus Christi Medical Center by facilitating cooperation of hospital staff in a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Consistently provides outstanding service to all patients, physicians, fellow employees, and guests.
  • Displays initiative to see processes through to completion and helps without being asked.
  • Maintains awareness of own limitations and seeks guidance from appropriate personnel as needed.
  • Prioritizes activities of self based on demands for service.
  • Remains alert to the detection of errors in own work and the work of others with appropriate corrective actions initiated.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient rights, including those pertaining to confidentiality, informed decision-making, and privacy.
  • Is aware of resources available for ethical concerns and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Practices cost-efficiency.
  • Performs technical skills proficiently in accordance with established standards, as evidenced by annual validation processes.
  • Utilizes specialized knowledge and skill to perform job requirements.
  • Transports patients to and from imaging areas.
  • Escorts patients and families to all hospital areas.
