Baltimore Washington Medical Center is seeking a dedicated transporter to move patients, supplies and equipment across departments. The role emphasizes timely ED turnover and proper patient placement, with a focus on safety and respectful handling of patients from infant to geriatric ages.
The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and CPR certification, with work four nights on a 8pm-6:30am shift and weekend rotations.
Under frequent supervision, transports patients, supplies and equipment to and from all departments within the medical center. Expedites Emergency Department room turnover and patient placement. Patients served include infant to adult geriatric.

High School diploma or equivalent required. Must be able to read and write English. Current CPR certification required or obtained prior to providing direct patient care.
Works inside a clean, well-lighted environment. Potential for verbal abuse by patients. Potential for regular exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials, requiring the observance of Standard Precautions and safe handling practices. This position has been classified as medium exposure risk and requires the completion of an annual respirator mask fitting.
Requires walking 80% of the time with frequent stooping and bending. Requires pushing, pulling and maneuvering stretchers and wheelchairs weighing in excess of 100 lbs. 80 % of the time in accordance with Safe Patient Lifting policy. Requires lifting and carrying equipment and supplies weighing in excess of 30 lbs. Requires ability to communicate verbally with patients, medical center staff, physicians and other customers. Requires visual acuity for reading patient logs, identification bracelets, etc. Ability to hear spectra link phone to receive transport request.
