Job summary

ProMedica's Monroe Regional Hospital is seeking a dedicated Patient Transporter to assist in moving patients across the facility. You will help lift, turn, and transfer patients to transport equipment with proper technique and RN approval, while ensuring safety.

Responsibilities include cleaning equipment after use, reporting defects, monitoring patient condition during transport, and delivering clinical items such as IV pumps and oxygen tanks as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: HS graduate or equivalent; certification as HCP.
• Successful completion of training in equipment usage and infection control.
• Competent in patient mobility and customer service.

Location:Monroe Regional HospitalDepartment:Central TransportWeekly Hours:36Status:Full timeShift:Variable (United States of America)Job Summary:When patients need to travel throughout the hospital, the Patient Transporter will help lift, turn, and move them to the proper transport equipment.You will ensure transport equipment is safe for the patients and report any defects quickly. When not transporting patients, you will clean the equipment, change lines as needed and communicate delays or concerns regarding transport to dispatch.The above summary is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by the positions. It should not be considered exhaustive.ACCOUNTABILITIES*All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise*Transports, assists in lifting, turning and transferring patients from beds to applicable transportation equipment using appropriate lifting techniques with regard to the patient's condition and the equipment. All patients must be transported with Registered Nurse approval.Cleans and assures the proper working order of transportation equipment after each use. Reports defects immediately and follows through to ensure the equipment is repaired and checked.Monitors the patient's general conditions during transport and assuring their safety as appropriate. Maintains operation of any external support to patients, such as but not limited to oxygen delivery devices. IVs, etc. immediately reports any malfunction to a RN.Monitors and maintains portable oxygen tanks supplies throughout the hospital. Obtains and delivers clinical equipment such as but not limited to IV Pumps and oxygen tanks to departments as needed and directed. Transport non-narcotic medications as needed and directed.Provides timely service. Transport other materials and equipment as needed. Communicates all delays in transport.Collects items for reprocessing from departments and transports them to appropriate reprocessing locations.Is accountable for communication or patient's condition at time of hand-off to another caregiver.Assures the identification of the patient by using at least two identifiers.REQUIREMENTSEducation: H.S. Graduate or equivalentSkills: Successful completion of training in equipment usage, clinical aspect, customer service, patient mobility, and infection control.
