Job Description

Transporter Hospital FULL TIME (AFSCME) – UC Health. The Transporter will support UC Medical Center's Transportation Department by delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care, and policy and procedures. This role is part of the Transportation department at UC Medical Center.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to and from scheduled treatment appointments using stretcher, wheelchair, bed, or ambulation devices. Receives computerized messages through EPIC, along with written and oral assignments from dispatchers and management.
• Make routine rounds to pick up and deliver specimens, charts, paperwork, x-rays, and equipment. Transport blood products and medication to nursing units.
• Transport patients, charts, and belongings to the morgue or cold room. Assist in patient transfers to other units. Assist nursing with patient safety during emergencies (fires, tornado drills, etc.).
• Maintain safety standards and proper body mechanics during patient transfers. Use universal precautions when transporting or handling patients' blood products and specimens.
• Ensure patients are secured appropriately when transported by wheelchair, stretcher, bed, or during ambulation.
• Perform related duties based on departmental needs.
