Full Time, Day Shift, M-F 6a-2:30p; includes some weekends

Job Requirements

• Education: Must have the ability to read, write, take verbal instruction, and perform basic arithmetic.
• Experience: No experience required; previous hospital experience is preferred.
• Physical: This is a safety-sensitive position. Please see the St. Bernards Substance Abuse Policy for further information. The role involves a normal hospital environment with close eye work, hearing within normal range, and oral communication. Operates computer, wheelchairs, and stretchers. Requires mobility, sight, hearing, verbal communication, and exposure to temperature changes and potentially disagreeable elements (dust, fumes, odors, water, etc.), as well as biological, mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards. Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping. Lifting up to 100 lbs, carrying up to 50 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 250 lbs with equipment.

Job Summary

The Transporter Equipment Tech is responsible for transporting patients to and from their rooms to various departments for testing and procedures. Duties include coordinating physical bed placement, gathering and cleaning equipment daily, maintaining equipment with bio-med support, and keeping hallways clear of clutter. Assists in preparing the department for procedures, performs preps under the supervision of circulating nurses, helps with skills labs, and maintains, evaluates, and repairs department equipment. Effective communication with nursing staff, physicians, department managers, and sales representatives is essential. The role promotes good public relations and assists in patient care as assigned by the Director or Manager.
