Job summary

UNC Health Nash is seeking dedicated professionals to join our transport team. The transporter moves patients by wheelchair, bed or stretcher and provides non-clinical support to the department, aiding patient flow and safety.

Responsibilities include assisting health professionals, keeping transport equipment clean and functional, and delivering supplies within the unit. A high school diploma is required; Nursing Assistant I certification is preferred. Onsite, full-time, 40 hours/week.

• Ensures that medical equipment necessary for patient transport is clean, functional and operational. Reports any equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
• Helps maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Procures, processes, and/or delivers equipment, supplies, nourishments, and other resources to the assigned area on a routine basis and during emergency situations
• Transports patients (whose conditions range from stable to highly complex with special equipment needs) to other nursing units, to diagnostic and treatment areas, and for discharge from the Hospitals.

Summary

The Transporter transports patients via wheelchair, bed or stretcher to and from the department, and performs a variety of non-professional technical support functions for the department.
