Job Summary and Qualifications

The Imaging Aide Patient Transporter is responsible for transporting and assisting patient of all ages within the Hospital to and from the Imaging Services departments for tests and procedures. Will assist and perform clerical duties as assigned.

What you will do in this role:

  • Transports patients within the Hospital to and from all departments within Imaging Services.
  • Performs and confirms proper patient identification prior to transporting the patient.
  • Ensures the comfort and safety of the patient during the transport process.
  • Appropriately communicates with the Lead Tech, Imaging Technologist and/or unit Nursing and support staff of any known issues with the transportation of the patient.
  • Utilizes and follows interdepartmental communication tools i.e., “Ticket to Ride”.
  • Utilizes good time management and communication skills to ensure transportation of patients is done in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Performs any clerical duties assigned.
  • Implements appropriate infection control and standard precautions.
  • Cleans and disinfects stretchers and wheelchairs after each patient use with appropriate cleaning and/or disinfectant products and methods.
  • Ensures transportation equipment is maintained and repaired when necessary.
  • Applies principles of patient safety during all aspects of assisting and transporting patients.
  • Maintains confidentiality of the patient’s PHI in accordance with the HIPPA.
  • Initiates CPR or other emergency actions when necessary.
  • Participates in continuing education to maintain and enhance competency and performance. Completes annual Radiation Safety Training and MRI Safety Training two weeks prior to evaluation date.
  • Takes responsibility for decisions made and actions taken.
What qualifications you will need:
  • High School education or equivalent.
  • MINIMUM: Prior experience in a Hospital or Medical setting is helpful but not required. Good customer service and communication skills are required.
  • Current BLS/CPR
