Job summary

CHI Mercy Health is seeking a Patient Transporter to provide essential assistance and transportation for patients and related items across our campus. Daily duties include transporting inpatients and outpatients to imaging and back to rooms, confirming patient identification, and observing patient condition during transport.

Candidates must have a High School diploma or equivalent, with AHA BLS within 30 days of hire. Oregon CNA preferred.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• AHA Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire required.
• Preferred: State of Oregon Certified Nursing Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients safely to the imaging department at the request of the Technologist, Radiologist or other hospital staff.
• Transports patients back to their rooms and ensures patient is connected to devices removed for transport.
• Assists technologists in positioning and moving patients with lift systems.
• Documents initials on requisitions with patient identifiers, oxygen levels and devices used prior to transport.
• Maintains clean linen supply, monitors blanket warmer and restocks as needed; stocks patient scrubs.
• Disinfects gurneys and wheelchairs and stores equipment properly when not in use.

As our Patient Transporter, you will provide essential assistance and transportation for patients and related items across our campus, ensuring a highly customer-sensitive and seamless experience. Every day you will promptly and safely transport inpatients and outpatients to and from various hospital areas. You will meticulously confirm patient identification, greet and assist in transferring patients, and make conscious observations of patient condition during transport, reporting any issues to appropriate personnel. You will also maintain a clean and organized work area and report any malfunctioning equipment. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety and exceptional customer service for all individuals within our facility. You will be attentive, observant, and capable of performing duties efficiently while upholding the highest standards of care and professionalism.

• Transports patients back to their rooms upon completion of examination and ensures that the patient is hooked up to all devices that were removed for transport.
• Assists technologists in positioning and moving patients utilizing necessary lift systems.
• Documents initials on the requisition two patient identifiers, oxygen levels and what devices the patient was hooked up to prior to transport.
• Maintains clean linen supply. Monitors blanket warmer and restocks when needed. Stocks patient scrubs.
• Disinfects all gurneys and wheelchairs on a regular basis. Ensures equipment is properly stored when not in use.

Job Requirements

Required

Pay Range

$17.67 - $24.96 /hour
