Job summary

UPMC Passavant in Pittsburgh is seeking a Casual Transporter at the McCandless location to support patient care by transporting supplies, equipment, and medications between units and treatment centers. The role requires safe, timely, and accurate handling, with attention to professional communication with patients and staff.

Shifts are every other weekend with rotating holidays and discussable interview details. Must have BLS/CPR within 30 days of hire and Act 34 clearance.

Qualifications

• Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 30 days of hire.
• Act 34 clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections and disinfecting procedures on transportation equipment.
• Record transportation data electronically or on forms and logs.
• Deliver supplies, equipment, medication and other materials to patient units and designated areas.
• Ensure medication handoff occurs with the nurse.
• Report status of transportation activities to the manager.
• Deliver supplies, equipment, and other materials safely and timely.
• Transport patients and adjunct equipment between units and treatment centers.
• Maintain courteous professional demeanor and communicate with patients and staff at all times.
• Follow written and verbal instructions to complete transport duties.
• Able to use transport equipment.
• May transport medications when transporting patients; transportation of medications limited to between departments.

ANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant is currently hiring a Casual Transporter at the McCandless location.

Shift Details:

• Every other weekend with rotating holidays
• 1pm - 9:30pm or 8am - 4:30pm
• Shifts will be discussed further during the interview

Responsibilities:

• Perform inspections and disinfecting procedures on transportation equipment utilized by the department.
• Record transportation data electronically in the Transport Tracking System and/or manually on appropriate forms and logs utilized by the department.
• Delivers supplies, equipment, medication and other materials to the patient units, and other designated areas in a safe, timely, and accurate manner.
• Ensures that a handoff of medication occurs with the nurse.
• Report the status of transportation activities and abnormal activities to the manager in charge.
• Deliver supplies, equipment, and other materials to the patient units, and other designated areas in a safe, timely, and accurate manner.
• Transport patients and adjunct equipment via prescribed vehicles between patient units, treatment centers, and their designated areas in a safe, timely, and accurate manner.
• Maintain a courteous professional demeanor and communicates appropriately with patients, visitors, hospital personnel, and fellow employees at all times.
• Requires the ability to follow written and verbal instructions in order to successfully complete transport duties
• Ability to use transport equipment.
• May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored or may transport medications when they transport patients.
• Transportation of medication is limited from one department to another.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
