Job Description

The Transportation Worker 1 Equipment Operator reports to the Randolph County Headquarters. Under general supervision, this entry-level role involves construction and maintenance of highways, including operating various vehicles and equipment, performing traffic control, and assisting in snow removal. Duties include:

• Driving light trucks and vehicles, including during snow removal and ice control (SRIC).
• Operating equipment such as forklifts, end loaders, skid steers, rollers, utility tractors, and brush chippers.
• Using hand tools for vegetation control.
• Transporting materials or fuel to equipment.
• Providing traffic control by flagging at job sites.
• Performing minor maintenance on fleet equipment.
• Answering telephone and radio calls during SRIC operations.
• Potential exposure to hazardous conditions and weather.

The selected candidate will participate in a U.S. Department of Labor apprenticeship program. Within six months of employment, obtaining a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required. Progression and advancement depend on hours worked, proficiency, training, and CDL maintenance.

Note: A CDL is mandatory within six months for the Equipment Operator and Mechanic roles.

Pay Grade: 10H | Hourly Rate: $15.4913

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate light trucks and other vehicles.
• Operate forklifts, end loaders, skid steers, rollers, utility tractors, and brush chippers.
• Control vegetation using hand tools and equipment.
• Plow snow with light trucks.
