Description

DRMP's Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division is hiring. We are seeking Transportation Technicians/CEI Inspectors (all levels) to join our team in Asheville, NC.

*While you'll be assigned to a home office, most of these positions will report directly to the field/project.* The Transportation Technician performs complex technical assignments in field surveying, construction layout, engineering computations, construction inspection, and field testing.

Primary Responsibilities include:

• Document daily contractor work efforts.
• Prepare project field books and density logs.
• Sample and test materials.
• Assist in preparing Final Estimates.
• Measure distances and verify construction dimensions.
• Verify levels, alignment, and elevations.
• Observe work to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Prepare material samples for lab testing.
• Inspect finished installations for standards conformity.
• Record material quantities used or received.
• Maintain logs of activities.

Qualifications (KSA's):

• Receive general instructions; exercise initiative and judgment.
• Assist Senior Inspectors and Project Administrators.
• Prepare backup documentation for project estimates.

Requirements:

• High school diploma + 4+ years in construction inspection, including 1+ year roadway/bridge inspection.
• AAS in Civil Engineering Technology + 2+ years experience, with at least 1+ year roadway inspection.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history.
• Complete required courses and submit certification forms.
• Work 40+ hours/week, with possible overtime.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work in a team environment.

Certifications preferred:

• QMS Roadway, Concrete, Density, ABC Sampling, Borrow Pit Sampling, EC Level 2, DOT Intermediate MOT, etc.
