Our Raleigh Construction Management Team is seeking a Transportation Technician II to perform standard inspection procedures on transportation projects in North Carolina, ensuring quality, safety, and conformance to plans and specifications. Opportunities are available statewide. This position is not eligible for employer sponsorship, except for TN visa classification.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Inspect contractor operations on transportation projects, including roadway and bridge construction, to verify adherence to plans and specifications.
2. Conduct routine material testing.
3. Measure and track quantities of pay items.
4. Maintain records including material certifications, testing reports, and daily diaries.
5. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.

Required Experience

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related field, with two years of progressive technician experience, or equivalent education and experience.
• Active driver's license.
• Experience analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans.
• NCDOT certifications such as Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, and Conventional Density Testing are preferred.
• Four or more years of construction inspection experience on transportation projects are preferred.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field, requiring safety awareness in outdoor environments with hazards such as heights, traffic, and rough terrain. Moderate physical activity is necessary, including walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing. Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work nights and weekends as needed.
