Job summary

Crawford Electric Supply in the United States is seeking a Transportation Supervisor to lead daily transportation operations, ensuring safety, reliability, and customer service. The role will coordinate with drivers, dispatch, sales, and warehouse teams to drive on-time delivery and continuous improvement.

You will develop a culture of accountability, coach drivers, monitor KPIs, and leverage data to optimize routes and fleet readiness in a fast-paced distribution environment.

Responsibilities

The Transportation Supervisor will be responsible for leading daily transportation operations while reinforcing Crawford's commitment to safety, customer service, and continuous improvement. This position will serve as a key liaison between drivers, dispatch, sales, warehouse operations, safety, and transportation leadership.



The Transportation Supervisor Will


  • Lead the daily AM transportation operation.

  • Drive safe execution of all transportation activities.

Transportation Supervisor Responsibilities

Safety Leadership


  • Conduct and document driver safety observations.

  • Ensure completion of pre-trip and post-trip inspections.

  • Monitor and address DVIR deficiencies.

  • Review telematics, camera events, and driver behavior exceptions.

  • Conduct driver coaching and corrective actions.

  • Lead safety meetings and safety communications.

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and property damage.

  • Complete root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Partner with Safety leadership on compliance and training initiatives.

  • Maintain visible leadership presence in transportation and yard operations.

  • Recognize and reinforce positive driver safety behaviors.

  • Remove unsafe drivers or equipment from service when necessary.



Dispatch & Operational Leadership


  • Oversee daily dispatch execution and route management.

  • Monitor delivery schedules and service commitments.

  • Coordinate hot shots, same-day requests, and route adjustments.

  • Manage communication between drivers, sales, warehouse, and customers.

  • Resolve operational issues impacting service performance.

  • Ensure effective use of transportation technology and routing systems.

  • Monitor operational KPIs and execute improvement plans.



Fleet Oversight


  • Monitor fleet utilization and equipment availability.

  • Coordinate maintenance scheduling and downtime management.

  • Ensure transportation assets are ready for daily operation.

  • Track fleet performance metrics and corrective actions.

  • Support compliance, inspections, and vehicle readiness activities.



Driver Leadership


  • Supervise drivers and dispatch personnel.

  • Conduct coaching, development, and performance discussions.

  • Manage attendance, scheduling, and staffing coverage.

  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and professionalism.

  • Support new-hire onboarding and operational training.



Continuous Improvement


  • Identify operational inefficiencies and process gaps.

  • Lead root-cause reviews and corrective action plans.

  • Improve route efficiency, communication, and execution.

  • Utilize reporting and performance metrics to drive results.

  • Support strategic transportation initiatives as assigned.
