Job summary

Imperial Brady is seeking a Transportation Supervisor in California to lead a team of drivers, dispatch personnel, and third-party providers. You will supervise routing, ensure DOT compliance, and drive on-time deliveries while upholding safety and company values.

You will coordinate with HR and Management, maintain DQ files, and optimize loads to minimize third-party usage. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years in transportation supervision, preferably in a distribution environment.
  • Flexible schedule availability.
  • Ability to fill in for Router and Dispatcher as needed.
  • Strong working knowledge of FMCSA/DOT regulations and safety compliance measures.
  • Experience with Roadnet or comparable routing software; ability to learn Daycon routes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel/Word).
  • Union experience is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to stay customer focused while operating within company standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
  • Valid Driver’s License and safe driving history; DOT Certification a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct a team of Drivers, dispatch personnel and a roadside assistance.
  • Oversee day to day operations of the transportation department to include routing, field operations, dispatch, DOT compliance, reporting and safety.
  • Perform/ oversee routing functions as needed; maintain Omnitracs database customer locations time windows and other information as directed by management. (Communicate to Credit for updates)
  • Provide direction and exemplary leadership to direct reports; hire, train and manage performance of team in accordance with company goals, standards, and values.
  • Support Transportation Manager and HR with safety and DOT compliance, to include maintenance of Driver Qualification (DQ) files and proper reporting / investigation of accidents and injuries.
  • Ensure compliance with Union CBA; Partner with Transportation Manager, HR, and Shop Stewards to maintain working relationship with the Union.
  • Monitor, control and optimize productivity by ensuring that each truck carries as much as possible. Schedule loads to minimize the use of third-party drivers.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure positive working relationships and an aligned strategy to service customers and reach company performance goals.
  • Select specific trucks for each route based on volume and equipment availability.
  • Investigate customer complaints regarding lost or damaged merchandise or shortages in shipment to determine responsibility.
  • Schedule shipments to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company policy. Ensure that all DOT regulations are enforced.
  • Conduct ride-a-longs with drivers regularly to evaluate delivery area, accuracy, and customer service standards. Provide strong leadership and coaching.

Ideal Candidate Will Have

Compensation & Benefits

The pay range for this role is $77,000-$85,000/year. This range represents what the company reasonably expects to pay an associate for this role based on current market data, internal equity, and other business factors. The actual compensation offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other considerations.
