Job description

Job Description for Trans Ops Specialist – NOC INDIA

NOC (Network Operations Center) is the central command and control center for ‘Transportation Execution’ across the Amazon Supply Chain network supporting multiple geographies like NA, India, and EU. It ensures hassle-free, timely pick-up and delivery of freight from vendors to Amazon fulfillment centers (FC) and from Amazon FCs to carrier hubs. In case of any exceptions, NOC steps in to resolve the issue and keeps all stakeholders informed. NOC also analyzes network data to identify trends and automates or proposes process changes to streamline operations, playing a critical role in ensuring smooth transportation operations.

Purview of a Trans Ops Specialist

A Trans Ops Specialist at NOC facilitates communication between stakeholders (Trans Carriers/Hubs/Warehouses) and resolves issues impacting customer experience and business continuity. The role covers two verticals – Inbound and Outbound operations.

Inbound Operations involve managing Vendor/Carrier/FC relationships, ensuring timely pick-up and delivery as scheduled. The Trans Ops Specialist addresses issues during the pick-up to delivery lifecycle.

Outbound Operations involve managing FC/Carrier relationships, ensuring trucks leave the FC to meet delivery promises. The specialist handles issues during freight transit from FC to customer.

The ideal candidate should analyze data, notice trends, and drive customer experience improvements without compromising on time. Basic logistics understanding, clear communication, and process improvement ideation are essential.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Communicating with external (Carriers, Vendors/Suppliers) and internal customers (Retail, Finance, Software Support, Fulfillment Centers)
  2. Pulling data from databases (Excel, Access, SQL) for ad hoc reporting and analysis
  3. Developing and understanding performance metrics to drive results
  4. Scoping business and functional requirements for software system enhancements
  5. Assessing business impact of data trends and making informed decisions
  6. Escalating issues systematically and ensuring resolutions
  7. Working within time constraints to meet critical needs
  8. Communicating findings clearly in reports and reviews
  9. Providing real-time customer experience in a 24*7 environment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative/technical field such as computer science, engineering, or statistics

  • Logistics background and experience in a similar role (preferred)
