POSITION SUMMARY: Transportation Specialist I is responsible for providing transportation services for frail and elderly participants from their homes to RMHCS centers and medical appointments. The role includes maintaining clean vehicles and performing regular vehicle safety checks.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Drive vehicles safely using defensive driving skills, following assigned routes and maintaining smooth acceleration and braking.
- Load and unload participants safely, adhering to policies and procedures.
- Escort participants safely from the bus to the door and back, utilizing safety training and equipment.
- Ensure proper securement of participants inside the vehicle and during unloading.
- Notify the dispatcher if running late or if there are cancellations, providing reasons.
- Transport participants to scheduled appointments as arranged by dispatch.
- Assist participants in their home or other locations with tasks such as putting on socks, shoes, or jackets.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness by sweeping floors, cleaning glass and exterior.
- Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring vehicle safety, documenting deficiencies, and reporting safety issues immediately.
- Coordinate with management for vehicle maintenance and repairs.
- Communicate participant needs, concerns, or issues observed during transportation.
- Assist participants at appointments or outings as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service, supporting the Rocky Mountain Way in interactions with colleagues and participants.
- Keep detailed notes and submit documentation promptly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; equivalent experience accepted.
- Experience working with frail, elderly, or disabled populations highly desired.
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Experience driving large vehicles preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Valid Colorado Driver's License and current automobile insurance.
- Driving record in compliance with company policy.
- Knowledge of computer applications including email and internet navigation.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain a safe environment.
- Availability to work all operational hours, including overtime, on-call, and weekends.
