Job summary

Ascent Global Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Transportation Specialist to quote and schedule LTL, Volume LTL, and Expedite shipments. You will communicate directly with customers to meet shipping needs and add value to their experience with Ascent.

The role requires handling shipment details, rating with carriers, and ensuring timely pickup and delivery while maintaining high service levels. A college degree is preferred, with 2+ years in related roles and strong TMS knowledge.

Qualifications

• College degree preferred.
• 2+ years of customer service or transportation experience.
• Knowledge of LTL rating, freight class, density, and NMFC.
• Familiar with LTL carrier tariffs and accessorial charges.
• Strong communication skills with customers.
• Experience with transportation management systems (TMS).
• Ability to manage inbound and outbound calls with responsive email communication.
• Ability to work flexible shifts.

Responsibilities

• Receive shipment information via phone or email and rate with carriers to support cost savings.
• Review, approve, and execute quotes and shipments via the web portal.
• Provide competitive quotes through ratings and carrier selection.
• Ensure on-time pickups and deliveries to meet customer requirements.
• Dispatch carriers and provide bills of lading to customers or shipper contacts.
• Resolve customer issues and recommend corrective actions to improve service.
• Track and trace shipments as required or on request.
• Develop and improve procedures to resolve shipment exceptions.
• Follow SOPs to provide consistent quality service.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by management.
• Meet assigned team or individual KPIs.
• Work within a dedicated team for consistent service.
• Provide after-hours customer support when assigned.

What You’ll Do

The Transportation Specialist for Ascent Global Logistics – LTL Brokerage is primarily responsible for quoting and scheduling LTL, Volume LTL, and/or Expedite shipments in order to provide a cost savings and a high level of service to our customers. In this role you will be in direct communication with our customers in order to meet their shipping needs and add value to their overall experience with Ascent Global Logistics.

• Effectively receive shipment information via phone or email and conduct rating with carriers in order to support cost savings to our customers
• Review, approve, and execute all quotes and shipments submitted via the web portal
• Provide competitive quotes to our customers through effective rating and carrier selection
• Ensure shipments are picked up on a timely basis and delivered as scheduled to meet our customer delivery requirements.
• Effectively dispatch carriers assigned to shipments and provide bills of lading to customers and/or shipper contacts.
• Resolve customer issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions in order to improve overall service to our customers.
• Track and trace shipments, as required, or when requested by customer
• Recommend, develop, and enhance operational procedures in order to improve internal processes and resolve shipment exceptions.
• Follow all internal or customer standard operating procedures in order to provide consistent quality service to our customers.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by management
• Meet all assigned team or individual key performance indicators
• Ability to work within a dedicated team environment in order to provide consistency in service.
• Provide after-hours customer support, when assigned

What You’ll Bring

• College degree preferred
• 2 or more years of customer service, transportation management, or 3PL experience
• Understanding of LTL rating, to include, freight class, density, and NMFC determination.
• Knowledge of LTL carrier tariffs and rules along with accessorial charges
• Ability to effectively present and communicate to customers
• Understanding of transportation management systems (TMS)
• Ability to manage inbound and outbound calls along with effective and responsive email communication
• Ability to convey business and service requirements to outside vendors
• Ability to work flexible shifts
