Job summary

Wurth Wood Group is seeking an experienced Transportation Specialist for the Richmond, VA area. You will interact with customers and service providers to ensure safe, timely delivery of products and maintain up-to-date CDL qualifications.

You will drive a CMV, support warehouse coordination, and ensure DOT compliance while maintaining vehicle cleanliness and accurate delivery documentation. Strong organization and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Maintains a clean and valid Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B).
• Has a valid Medical Card.
• Forklift certification is required.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds with proper lifting techniques.
• Experience as a transportation specialist in a related industry is preferred.
• Must strap and secure cargo and balance it within the vehicle.
• Have basic knowledge of all DOT regulations.
• Maintains a high level of professionalism and ethics.
• Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive a CMV to deliver products within the local route assigned.
• Operate a CMV in various conditions (highways, city streets, loading/unloading).
• Maintain forklift and vehicle cleanliness and一般 housekeeping tasks.
• Prepare, process, and maintain transportation documentation for DOT compliance.
• Develop strong interactions with customers, service providers, and internal teams.
• Secure proof of delivery using the EPOD device.
• Address customer inquiries and resolve complaints with Operations and Sales teams.
• Ensure compliance with safety, transportation regulations, and company policies.

Position Summary:

The Transportation Specialist will be required to interact and service our customers and service providers, to ensure a safe and proper delivery of product. The Transportation Specialist should provide the best in class customer service and work as a team with warehouse personnel to ensure all product is delivered in a timely manner. The Transportation Specialist will be responsible for driving a CMV (commercial motor vehicle) and therefore responsible for maintaining an up-to-date CDL license.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Drive a CMV (commercial motor vehicle) to deliver the product within the local route assigned.
• Operating a CMV in different conditions (e.g., highway driving, side/local roads, city/country as well as tight loading and unloading positions.
• Must be able to be forklift certified.
• Perform general housekeeping tasks and maintain the cleanliness of vehicles and other areas as instructed.
• Prepare, process, and maintain all necessary transportation documentation & information – both in and out of various operating systems – required for DOT compliance.
• Develop strong interaction, in and amongst customers, service providers, and the internal team to ensure fluid, efficient movement of product.
• Secure proof of delivery by using a supplied (EPOD) Electronic Proof of Delivery device.
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints in a timely manner through collaboration with the Operations manager and sales team.
• Comply with all applicable safety, transportation regulations, and company policies.
• Responsible for maintaining Quality and Safety awareness.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

• Maintain a clean and valid Commercial Driver's License *Class A or B
• Maintain a Valid Medical Card.
• Maintain forklift certification.
• Must be able and willing to lift up to 75 pounds using proper lifting techniques.
• Experience as a transportation specialist in a related industry, preferred.
Must be able to strap and secure cargo and properly arrange and balance it within the vehicle.
• Have basic knowledge of all DOT regulations.
• High standard of professionalism and ethics.
• Preferred style of teamwork, and collaboration.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and with written communications.
