Job Title: Box Truck Driver (CDL)
Department: Operations
Reports To: Delivery Manager
The CDL Class B Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of lumber, millwork, and building materials to customer locations and job sites. This role plays a critical part in supporting delivery operations, maintaining compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations, and ensuring a professional customer experience. Reporting to the Delivery Manager, the CDL Driver works closely with warehouse, inventory, and dispatch teams to execute timely and accurate deliveries. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong safety awareness, attention to detail, and a commitment to operational excellence within the lumber and building materials (LBM) industry.
Safely operate CDL B vehicles, and class C vehicles including fork trucks and moffetts, box trucks, and flatbed trucks to transport LBM and millwork products to customer sites. Ensure timely and complete deliveries in alignment with company standards.
Properly secure all materials using straps and approved cargo securement techniques in accordance with FMCSA guidelines. Verify load stability and safety before departure.
Assist with loading and unloading materials using forklifts and other equipment. Follow approved safety procedures and coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure order accuracy.
Adhere to all DOT and FMCSA regulations, including hours-of-service, vehicle inspections, and safe driving practices. Maintain current CDL credentials and required certifications.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Report any maintenance issues promptly and ensure vehicles are clean, safe, and road-ready.
Maintain accurate delivery logs, trip records, and compliance paperwork. Submit required documentation to the Delivery Manager in a timely manner.
Represent the company professionally at job sites and customer locations. Assist with unloading, verify order accuracy, and address customer questions or concerns courteously.
Coordinate with dispatch, warehouse, and yard teams to ensure smooth delivery operations. Communicate proactively to resolve issues and maintain delivery schedules.
Valid CDL Class B license required.
Prior experience operating commercial vehicles and moffetts, preferably within the lumber and building materials industry.
Strong safety awareness, time management, and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and follow detailed procedures.
Familiarity with DOT and FMCSA regulations, cargo securement standards, and basic vehicle maintenance practices.
Ability to lift and move heavy materials, stand for long periods, and work in outdoor environments.
