Job summary

Clackamas County’s Social Services Division seeks part-time Temporary Transportation Shuttle Drivers to support the TRP program. You will transport older adults and people with disabilities, provide excellent customer service, and maintain a welcoming environment for riders from diverse backgrounds.

Hours are roughly 28 per week, Monday through Friday, on-site at the designated work location. A valid license, safe driving record, and completion of required training are essential for this

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of related experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills to perform the responsibilities of this position.
• Must have a proven safe driving record that meets all criteria as established by Clackamas County and transportation program requirements.
• Experience or knowledge using navigation tools, including maps and GPS.
• Experience providing customer service including strong communication skills.
• Experience utilizing strong organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport older adults and individuals with disabilities to appointments, essential services, errands, and community activities.
• Operate County vehicles in accordance with traffic laws, County policies, and established safety procedures.
• Assist passengers with boarding, exiting, and securing mobility devices while ensuring a safe and comfortable ride.
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Must follow all Oregon Driving laws and the Standard Operation Procedures of the program.
• Maintain a clean, welcoming vehicle environment.
• Follow assigned routes and schedules and accurately complete trip records and required documentation.

JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Clackamas County’s Social Services Division is seeking customer-focused and dependable Part-time Temporary Transportation Shuttle Drivers to join the Transportation Reaching People (TRP) program. Although these positions are classified as temporary, they are long‑term positions with a consistent schedule of 28 hours per week and are not on‑call or fill‑in positions.

TRP provides safe, reliable transportation for older adults and individuals with disabilities, helping them maintain independence by connecting them to essential medical appointments, grocery shopping, community services, and social activities. In this role, you will safely transport passengers, provide exceptional customer service, and foster a welcoming, respectful environment for riders from diverse backgrounds.

Required Minimum Qualifications/Transferrable Skills:*

• Experience working with clients who may be unpredictable and require flexibility, including physical and mental health challenges.
• Experience working with older adults and/or adults with disabilities.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Must pass post-offer, pre‑employment drug test.
• Must pass a criminal history check which may include national or state fingerprint records check
• Driving is required for County business on a regular basis or to accomplish work. Incumbents must possess a valid driver's license, and possess and maintain an acceptable driving record throughout the course of employment.

TYPICAL TASKS

Passenger Transportation

• Safely transport older adults and individuals with disabilities to appointments, essential services, errands, and community activities.

• Assist passengers with boarding, exiting, and securing mobility devices while ensuring a safe and comfortable ride.

Customer Service

• Provide courteous, respectful, and professional service to passengers from diverse backgrounds.
• Communicate effectively with riders, caregivers, and program staff while exercising patience, empathy, and sound judgment.
• Maintain a clean, welcoming vehicle environment.

Program Support

• Follow assigned routes and schedules and accurately complete trip records and required documentation.
• Collect and process ride donations in accordance with established procedures.
• Complete required training and certifications and perform other related duties as assigned.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position works part‑time (approximately 28 hours)during a standard workweek of Monday through Friday.

• Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended.
• This position is designated as on‑site/in‑person. It is expected that the selected candidate will perform duties at the specified on‑site work location.
