Shop Manager

JOB GOAL:

Maintain accurate transportation records, provide safe, clean, efficient transportation and care of students so they may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the school system’s curriculum and extracurricular programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Receives phone calls for transportation and routes to the appropriate personnel.
  2. Assists mechanics with duties as assigned by the shop manager
  3. Assists the shop manager with inventory as needed.
  4. Performs grounds keeping as assigned.
  5. Assists in maintaining the overall cleanliness of the bus shop.
  6. Assists with data entry, filing, recordkeeping, and other office duties as needed.
  7. Delivers interoffice mail to and from schools as scheduled.
  8. Delivers food and supplies provided to schools through Alabama Childhood Food Solutions as scheduled.
  9. Drives school bus routes as assigned.
  • a. Obeys all traffic laws.
  • b. Observes all mandatory safety regulations for the school bus.
  • c. Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
  • d. Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
  • e. Keeps assigned bus clean.
  • f. Keeps to assigned schedules.
  • g. Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects by performing a pre-trip inspection.
  • h. Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
  • i. Discharges students only at authorized stops.
  • j. Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
  • k. Transports only authorized students.
  • l. Reports all accidents and completes all required reports.
  • m. Enforces all regulations relative to students on the bus.
  • n. Checks bus at the end of each route to make sure all students are off.
  • o. Becomes familiar with and strictly adheres to contents of the Talladega County Schools Bus Driver Manual.
  • p. Loads students safely onto and off the bus.
  • q. Makes certain that wheelchairs are locked and Q-strap brackets and other wheelchair apparatus are secure.
  • r. Insures that all students follow the bus safety guidelines.
  • 10. Performs responsibilities of bus aide as needed.
  • 11. Maintains proper and professional relationship with students and other employees at all times.
  • 12. Maintains confidentiality of student and system information at all times.
  • 13. Keeps an accurate account of time worked.
  • 14. Performs any other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Transportation & Safety Services or Shop Manager.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Twelve Months/7.5 hours per day Salary according to proper placement on salary schedule (To be determined)

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation Support Services Personnel.
