Job summary

Sentry Insurance seeks a Transportation Safety Services Consultant II to deliver Safety Services for our trucking book with 60% travel in TX and surrounding states. Base salary ranges from $82,400 to $123,600 per year, plus benefits.

You will conduct onsite safety consultations, advise on risk improvements, and prepare reports for underwriting and agents. Strong FMCSA knowledge and independence from a home office are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with emphasis in the trucking industry.
• FMCSA regulations knowledge and fleet safety best practices.
• 2+ years of advanced safety experience in trucking.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to pursue CDS certification if not held.

Responsibilities

Job description

As a Transportation Safety Services Consultant II, you will deliver Safety Services to our business units with primary focus on our trucking book of business.

Based on qualifications and experience, the base salary range for a Transportation Safety Services Consultant II is $82,400-$123,600.

What You'll Do

The following are some of the responsibilities of the Transportation Safety Services Consultant that would be located in Texas with travel responsibilities mainly in Texas, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

• Conduct onsite safety consultations to assigned clients while also evaluating underwriting acceptability
• Recommend safety enhancements and provide technical safety resources to customers
• Complete detailed reports to agents and underwriting regarding the account profile, risk improvement opportunities, and overall opinion of risk
• Develop, coordinate and conduct safety seminars and training programs for customers to promote driver safety awareness and reduce claims
• Maintain and demonstrate expertise in areas such as FMCSA compliance, fleet safety, driver management, safety culture development, general liability, and cargo securement/protection

What It Takes

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with emphasis in the trucking industry
• Knowledge of FMCSA regulations and fleet safety best practices.
• A minimum of 2 plus years of advanced knowledge in a safety department in the trucking industry
• Effective oral and written communication and human relation skills
• Certified Director of Safety (CDS) through NATMI or willing to pursue designation
• High level of independence and self-motivation to work from home and manage a large geographic territory
• An acceptable motor vehicle record and ability to perform extensive travel over a large territory is required (60% travel)
