Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Transportation Roadway Engineer to join our Jacksonville, Florida team, supporting FDOT programs as an extension of staff in the client’s office, five days a week.

The role involves roadway plan development, traffic design, cost estimating, and OpenRoads/MicroStation design work. A bachelor’s degree, 5+ years of experience, and a PE license (or ability to obtain within 6 months) are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience.
• PE license required or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Familiar with FDOT Policy and Procedures, including the Florida Design Manual (FDM) and FDOT Standard Plans.
• GEC experience is a plus.
• Must be highly proficient with MicroStation/OpenRoads (ORD) software packages.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the development of roadway plan efforts and report preparation for projects ranging from minor intersection improvements to major reconstruction.
• Participates in the production of in‑house traffic design, signing and pavement markings.
• Performs and reviews engineering construction cost estimates using FDOT Long-Range Estimate (LRE) software system.
• Prepares, reads, interprets, and reviews plans, design reports, specifications, and cost estimates for major transportation projects.
• Performs designs utilizing CAD and proficiency in OpenRoads.
• Position requires time management and organizational skills across multiple projects and schedules.
• May coordinate with professionals, technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments.
• Organizes or directs field visits to collect data or resolve design conflicts.
• Performs such other duties as the Supervisor may deem necessary.

AtkinsRéalis seeks an energetic, detail‑oriented self‑starter to join our team in Jacksonville, Floridaas aTransportation Roadway Engineer, supporting the Florida Department of Transportation District Two, General Engineering Consultant (GEC) Program, working as an “extension of staff” in the client’s office 5 days per week.

Your role

• Responsible for the development of roadway plan efforts and report preparation for in-house projects ranging from minor intersection improvements to major reconstruction projects. This may include significant coordination with internal and external design support staff, client staff and local governing agencies.

• Participates in the production of in‑house traffic design, signing and pavement markings.

• Performs and reviews engineering construction cost estimates using FDOT Long-Range Estimate (LRE) software system.

• Prepares, Reads, Interprets, and reviews plans, design reports, specifications, and cost estimates for major transportation projects.

• Performs designs utilizing CAD and proficiency in OpenRoads.

About you
