Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, environmental sciences, environmental or urban planning or a related field from an accredited program.
• Master Degree in a related field and 7 years strategic communication experience required.
• Experience communicating complex technical, political, public policy, and/or work issues to the public through multiple channels (TV, print, web, town halls).
• Experience developing content for proposals, articles, collateral, technical reports, high level messaging, speeches and presentations.
• Strong media-relations skills and experience working with media outlets to develop and deliver key messages.
• Experience directing conceptual design and strategy for communications plans and/or public outreach campaigns, including branding and content.

Responsibilities

• Lead the establishment of goals, communication strategies and tactics for Public Involvement plans.
• Manage presentation development, project interviews and engagement scoping/cost estimating.
• Lead development of business plans and execute for the division.
• Develop and implement engagement strategies for internal programs.
• Oversee outreach and communications objectives and requirements.
• Manage strategic outreach plans including meetings, surveys, newsletters, web content and other materials.
• Develop workshop agendas and facilitate workshops, addressing contentious issues.
• Direct graphic design for infographics and presentations.
• Prioritize objectives and allocate funds to support them.
• Meet stakeholders including public officials and businesses affected by projects.
• Monitor costs and prepare weekly/monthly outreach reports.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
