What We're Looking For

Are you ready to make a significant impact on fast-paced infrastructure projects? HNTB is seeking a passionate Transportation Project Manager I to lead our project teams. In this role, you'll manage budgets, schedules, technical requirements, and contractual obligations to ensure top performance and client satisfaction. Join a team committed to delivering quality work on time, within budget, and exceeding client expectations. Your expertise will contribute to solving complex transportation engineering challenges.

What You'll Do:

  1. Develop project scope and fee quotations; assist in technical proposals and contracts following HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
  2. Serve as the primary client liaison; manage project teams to deliver scope, schedule, and budget; assist with client scoping and contract negotiations.
  3. Perform technical tasks including analysis, reporting, design, specifications, and production for assigned projects.
  4. Implement the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA); lead project management plan development and execution; supervise and mentor team members.
  5. Coordinate with managers on staffing, recruitment, development, retention, and performance reviews.
  6. Partner with Client Service Leaders to support business development and pursue strategic projects; prepare proposal and presentation materials; lead presentations to clients and industry groups.
  7. May oversee staff recruitment, development, and retention, including performance and compensation reviews.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience.
  2. At least 2 years of task management or Deputy PM experience.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  1. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on complex infrastructure projects.
  2. Managing and leading design teams on projects with construction values of $100M to $2.5B.
  3. Supervising and mentoring junior engineers.
  4. Engaging throughout the project lifecycle, including bid, post-award, and construction phases.
  5. Travel to project sites as required.
  6. Managing project activities such as staffing, proposals, budgets, and quality control.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Experience managing Design-Build projects.
  2. Master’s degree in Engineering.
  3. 10 years of relevant experience.
  4. Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  5. Experience in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
