Duties, Responsibilities & Other
  • 10+ years of experience in transportation engineering, planning, and design preferred.
  • Experience leading a design team for TxDOT, municipal, and county facilities, including drainage, traffic control, signing, pavement markings, intersection designs, pedestrian and bike facilities, bridges, construction phasing, and scheduling.
  • Project management experience required, with experience in managing and growing a design team preferred.
  • Experience in developing and managing state DOT projects preferred.
  • Proposal preparation including scope, schedule, and fee.
  • Contract management and billing to achieve profit goals.
  • Strong design knowledge in transportation required.
  • Prepare technical proposals, assemble teams, and develop professional relationships.
  • Manage a team of designers, CADD technicians, project engineers, and sub-consultants.
  • Train and develop staff.
  • Responsible for project delivery, including coordination of multiple design disciplines.
  • Oversee plans, specifications, quantity takeoffs, and estimates in accordance with standards.

Preferred qualifications include experience with OpenRoads, Open Bridge Designer, Microstation, TxDOT Connect, and knowledge of AASHTO, MUTCD, NACTO standards. A PE license is required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent; Master's preferred.
  • 7-12 years of professional experience.
  • Professional certification preferred.
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background checks may be required.
Performance Expectations
  • Complete annual training, mentor staff, develop customer relationships, and ensure project safety and compliance.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and performance.
  • Conduct site visits, prepare designs, and interpret technical documents.
  • Ensure project delivery on time and within scope and budget.
