Job summary

Otak is seeking a Transportation Project Engineer/Project Manager to shape multimodal infrastructure in Colorado, with potential Louisville or Denver office base. You will lead design for roadways, trails, bridges, and utilities, coordinating teams and securing client relationships.

The role requires a BSCE, 5–8 years in transportation projects, PE license within six months, and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation/OpenRoads, with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year college or university; PE license is preferred or obtainable within six months of hire.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of civil engineering experience focused on transportation/public infrastructure/multimodal design.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage budgets, schedules and assign tasks.

  • Manage tasks and teams on transportation projects.
  • Perform design services for roadway, site layout, grading, drainage and utilities in line with regulations.
  • Prepare construction plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation/OpenRoads; prepare specs and cost estimates.

Join our dynamic team at Otak and be part of shaping the future of transportation in Colorado As a Transportation Project EngineerProject Manager you can apply your design skills to various projects including municipal roadways recreational trails unique bikepedestrian underpasses vehicular and pedestrian bridges feasibility studies and utility projects With a significant focus on active transportation initiatives this role allows you to make a meaningful impact on the design and development of multimodal and active transportation infrastructure in Colorado Take the next step in your career and contribute to our exciting projects that extend beyond Front Range Communities to destination locales in the Mountain West and collaborations with the National Park Service This position may be based out of our Louisville or Denver office

How Youll Contribute
  • Manage tasks and teams associated with transportation projects
  • Perform design services related to roadway and site layout grading drainage utilities and erosion control in conformance with local state and federal regulations
  • Prepare construction plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D andor Microstation OpenRoads
  • Prepare specifications and cost estimates
  • Plan and coordinate projects with limited supervision
  • Assist in assigning duties and schedules to team members
  • Participate in preparing proposals and project scope schedule and budget
  • Participate in Business Development based on strong client relationships
  • Provide construction support services
The Strengths You Bring
  • Bachelors degree in civil engineering BSCE from an accredited four year college or university or equivalent education is required
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience as a Civil Engineer emphasizing transportation public infrastructure multimodal design drainage utilities site development and civic projects for municipal and private clients
  • Some project management experience is preferred or experience managing budgets schedules and assigning tasks or collaborating with other team members
  • Experience with technical writing and reviewing reports
  • Professional Engineer PE license in the State of Colorado or the ability to obtain licensure within six months of hire
  • Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D andor Microstation OpenRoads
  • Knowledge of local and state regulations and codes including AASHTO CDOT NACTO and MUTCD design guidelines
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a creative professional team environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Some experience with business development and client relationships is preferred

Salary Range 100000 150000 per year
