Job summary

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is seeking a skilled Transportation Planner to coordinate district planning activities, conduct technical analyses, and support long-range plans in TIPs, STIPs, and project development. You will work with local governments and regional planning entities to ensure future mobility and infrastructure needs are met.

The role emphasizes data-driven decision making, use of SPS and geospatial tools, and presenting findings at public hearings.

Qualifications

• Experience in transportation planning and mobility initiatives.
• Ability to manage financial resources and multiple projects.
• Knowledge of federal, state, local planning regulations.
• Experience with long-range transportation planning and forecasting.
• Ability to liaise with diverse groups including government officials and citizens.
• Experience using planning and traffic engineering software.
