Job summary

Clayton is seeking a Transportation Planner to coordinate inbound and intra-facility shipments across truck, rail and ocean networks. The role supports manufacturing, distribution, procurement and partners to optimize the supply chain using TMS and data-driven analysis.

The ideal candidate will have a background in transportation planning, carrier management, and FMCSA compliance, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) required.
• Background in tactical supply chain planning and network planning.
• Experience in transportation management, carrier, fleet and driver management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain or Logistics or ≥5 years related experience.
• Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes orders and plans shipments using TMS.
• Resolves daily shipment exceptions.
• Evaluates legality of transit infrastructure.
• Assists with bids for transportation projects.
• Recommends acceptance, rejection or modifications for plans.
• Suggests plan modifications to improve efficiency, cost and environmental impact.
• Supports logistic network modeling and provides recommendations.
• Drafts reports outlining findings and recommendations.
• Oversees driver and equipment utilization.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
