Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to perform seasonal road maintenance work for the Agency of Transportation (VTrans). Responsibilities include highway maintenance tasks such as repairing guardrails, cutting trees/brush, patching roads, picking litter, ditching, and more. Positions may work up to 40 hours per week depending on district needs.

Environmental Factors
Duties require exposure to extreme outdoor weather, overtime during emergencies, and working near heavy equipment and hazardous materials. Participation in drug and alcohol testing is required. Considerable overtime, especially in winter, is a condition of employment.
Minimum Qualifications
One year of experience in construction, equipment operation, or manual labor, including either one season of snowplow operation with wings or six months of operating medium/heavy equipment. Alternatively, successful completion of probation as a Transportation Operations Technician I and possession of a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement.
Special Requirements
A Class B CDL is required. Incumbents must live near the workstation and obtain a Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement within six months. All required coursework must be completed within a year.
CDL Application Requirements
Applicants must provide detailed employment history for the past 10 years, including employer names, addresses, employment dates, and reasons for leaving. All information must be true and complete.
