Job summary

TransCor America seeks a Transportation Officer to ensure safe and secure transport of inmates, detainees, and residents, following correctional and transport standards. The role emphasizes safety, clear communication, and adherence to established procedures.

Starting pay is $25.00 per hour with a potential Senior rate of $27.75 after 6–9 months of performance. Benefits include medical, PTO, and a 5% 401(k) match, plus sign-on and referral bonuses; a guaranteed 40-hour week is provided.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older.
• Must have a valid Driver's License.
• Prefer CDL A or B or Corrections, Military, Law Enforcement experience.

Responsibilities

• Safe and orderly operation of the assigned trip to promote public and staff safety.
• Manage inmate/detainee/ resident activity per policy and documentations.
• Address complaints and resolve disputes or problems; protect rights.
• Report injuries or incidents timely per policy.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and briefings.
• Maintain communication with Trip Management and field staff.
• Ensure readiness of restraints, equipment, vehicles, etc.
• Maintain professional relationships with team members and customer agencies.
• Apply restraints and use of force per policy and contract requirements.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Transportation Officer Hourly Rate: $25.00

Senior Transportation Officer (after 6-9 months on average based on performance): $27.75

SUMMARY:

The Transportation Officer ensures the safe and secure transport of inmates, detainees, and/or residents while following established correctional and transportation industry standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The successful applicant should be able to perform all of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job performance requirements.

• Responsible for the safe and orderly operation of the assigned trip in a manner that promotes public safety, staff safety and the secure and humane environment for inmates, detainees and/or residents.
• Manage inmate, detainee, and/or resident activity per policy. This includes listening to complaints and effectively resolving disputes or problems, taking corrective action, protecting inmate, detainee and residents rights, and completing all required documentation in accordance with policy.
• Follow sound safety practices and ensure that any injuries or accidents are reported in a timely and accurate manner per policy. Take appropriate action in cases of serious or unusual incidents and emergencies circumstances.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and briefings as required. Maintain and promote effective communications and the proper flow of relevant information to management and fellow team members.
• Maintain communication with Trip Management throughout the routed trip. Consult with Trip Management and/or Field Office Supervisor personnel in assessing situations and making decisions. Will not deviate from planned trip route unless cleared and/or directed by proper authorities.
• Complete preventive maintenance of equipment and ensure readiness of restraints, weapons, OIC kits, vehicles, etc.
• Ensure effective management and control of resources to include inmate/detainee and/or resident medications and property.
• Maintain professional relationships and communications when with team members, all customer agencies and inmates, detainees and/or residents.
• Application of restraints and the Use of Force will be strictly followed according to policy and customer contract requirements.
• Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent.
