Job summary

TransCor America is hiring a Senior Transportation Officer in Oklahoma to oversee safe inmate transport and trip movements. The role offers competitive hourly pay and benefits with a potential promotion after 6-9 months based on performance.

Starting hourly rate is $25.11, with a Senior Transportation Officer rate of $27.23; bonuses include a $3,500 sign-on, referral bonuses, and performance incentives. A guaranteed minimum 40-hour paycheck per week is provided.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe and orderly operation of assigned trip to promote public safety and humane environment for inmates/detainees/residents.
• May be assigned as Assistant Officer in Charge (AOIC) on trip activity if qualified.
• Monitor and supervise inmate/detainee/resident activity per TCA policy; resolve disputes and document actions.
• Follow safety practices; report injuries or accidents per policy; take action for emergencies.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections; maintain effective communication with management and team.
• Maintain communication with Trip Management; do not deviate from planned route without clearance.
• Complete preventive maintenance of equipment and ensure readiness of restraints, weapons, and vehicles.
• Manage resources including inmate/detainee/resident medications and property.
• Maintain professional relationships with staff, customer agencies, and inmates/detainees/residents.
• Apply restraints and use of force per TCA policies and customer contracts.
• Perform other duties as directed; obtain Officer in Charge (OIC) certification for AOIC eligibility.

Summary

This position is responsible for the safe and secure transportation of the inmate, detainee and/or resident population and trip movement. Follows sound correctional and transportation industry practices.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for the safe and orderly operation of the assigned trip in a manner that promotes public safety, staff safety and the secure and humane environment for inmates, detainees and/or residents.
• If qualified, may be assigned as the Assistant Officer in Charge (AOIC) on trip activity unless otherwise directed by their supervisor.
• Monitor and supervise inmate, detainee, and/or resident activity per TCA policy. This includes listening to complaints and effectively resolving disputes or problems, taking corrective action, protecting inmate, detainee and residents rights, and completing all required documentation in accordance with TCA policy.
• Follow sound safety practices and ensure that any injuries or accidents are reported in a timely and accurate manner per TCA policy. Take appropriate action in cases of serious or unusual incidents and emergencies circumstances.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and briefings as required. Maintain and promote effective communications and the proper flow of relevant information to management and fellow team members.
• Maintain communication with Trip Management throughout the routed trip. Consult with Trip Management and/or Field Office Supervisor personnel in assessing situations and making decisions. Will not deviate from planned trip route unless cleared and/or directed by proper TCA authorities.
• Complete preventive maintenance of equipment and ensure readiness of restraints, weapons, OIC kits, vehicles, etc.
• Ensure effective management and control of resources to include inmate/detainee and/or resident medications and property.
• Maintain appropriate relationships and communications when dealing with fellow staff members, all customer agencies and inmates, detainees and/or residents.
• Application of restraints and the Use of Force will be strictly followed according to TCA policies and customer contract requirements.
• Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
• Must achieve and maintain Officer in Charge (OIC) certification to be eligible for assignment as an AOIC.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Willing to work changing hours
• Must be 21 or older
• Prefer: 1 year of: corrections experience, law enforcement, military police or military security background, detention officer experience, security officer experience detaining/guarding people, or a degree in criminal justice or a related field
• Prefer a valid Class A or B driver's license with airbrake and passenger endorsements OR CDL Class A or B and willing to get airbrake and passenger endorsements

Training Requirements

• Must be willing to travel to Nashville, TN for a 3 week paid training program (with per diem)
• Annual recertification and in-service training
