Responsibilities

• Plan and manage daily transportation capacity based on shipment volumes, delivery requirements, and warehouse schedules.
• Oversee vehicle assignments, dispatch schedules, pickup appointments, and delivery routes.
• Identify, source, evaluate, and onboard carriers and transportation service providers to expand and maintain a reliable carrier network.
• Negotiate transportation rates and terms, including payment terms, capacity commitments, and service expectations, per company policies.
• Build and maintain long-term carrier relationships, conduct reviews, and manage renewals and rate adjustments.
• Monitor market rates and capacity availability, evaluate carrier quotes, and seek pricing improvements during peaks.
• Monitor shipment progress and resolve delays, missed pickups, and delivery exceptions.
• Coordinate with warehouse teams to ensure shipments are ready for loading and dispatch on schedule.
• Establish and monitor carrier performance standards (on-time pickup/delivery, service quality, cargo damage).
• Oversee freight charge verification, resolve billing discrepancies with carriers, and implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining service quality.
• Maintain dispatch records, shipment tracking, and proof-of-delivery documentation.
• Oversee carrier qualification reviews and ensure compliance with transportation and safety requirements.
• Lead, train, and supervise dispatch and transportation staff; manage shift handovers.
• Report operational performance, carrier development progress, and cost trends to management.
• Drive continuous improvement in carrier selection, capacity planning, and dispatch processes.
• Perform other transportation and logistics duties as assigned.

Position Overview

• An established network of reliable carriers or transportation service providers is a plus.
• Ability to evaluate carrier quotes, understand transportation cost structures, and assess commercial terms.
• Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), and Microsoft Excel preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, coordination, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments, respond to operational changes, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail, with a focus on service quality and cost control.
• Availability to support urgent transportation needs outside regular business hours when required.
