DHL Supply Chain is seeking a Transportation Manager I to oversee freight movement and transportation operations in a national context. The role focuses on coordinating traffic functions, scheduling shipments, managing carriers, and ensuring cost-effective, compliant transportation services.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 3-5 years in transportation, with knowledge of federal and state regulations.

• 3–5 years experience in transportation or related field.
• Working knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations.
• Experience with the transportation management function.
• Experience with account management with a logistics organization (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Responsible for coordinating and supervising all traffic functions relating to freight movement in and out of a facility.
• Direct and supervise scheduling of inbound/outbound shipments to ensure most economical utilization of carriers; interface with operations to resolve problems; recommend programs to the director that improve transportation; may include customs concerns and cost regulation.
• Manage the defined carrier providing services to the facility; meet with carrier reps to discuss issues; monitor performance; review practices for improvements.
• Develop and implement a proactive track and trace process to ensure timely delivery; provide track and trace information to the customer promptly.
• Develop transition plans for changing business model (DC replenishment to POS delivery); develop service contingencies for the supply chain.
• Direct transportation associates to achieve objectives; hire/train/develop staff; apply motivation techniques; implement performance evaluations.
• Manage facility truck fleet: select drivers/equipment, dispatch, maintenance; achieve service levels and control costs.
• Prepare billings and process freight payments; establish financial audits for fleet operations.
• Develop and operate transportation information reporting; ensure timely reports and records; create additional reports for changing customer needs.
• Support business development and marketing with customer presentations; complete transportation studies and analyses.
• Provide transportation support to customers; participate in meetings; oversee receiver visitation program with feedback.
• Communicate with associates, customers, and carriers to accomplish objectives; ensure flawless execution of transportation services; ensure regulatory compliance.
