About The Role
Reworld Waste is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transportation Manager for our Hodgkins, IL location. The Transportation Manager is responsible for all localized activities of Bulk, Roll-off and Non-bulk Transportation and is expected to provide strong leadership to drivers to maximize operations. Reporting directly to the Facility Manager, responsibilities include scheduling, receiving, dispatching, meeting DOT and fleet requirements and leading our Team of drivers. This position also works very closely with Wastewater Operations, Customer Support Team, Sales, Regional Reworld Operations, Human Resources and directly with our clients.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and promote an elite workplace where quality, performance, appearance, and effectiveness are paramount to the operations.
- Accountable for the efficiency and professionalism of all drivers while maintaining Reworld Waste safety standards and complying with DOT regulations.
- Set clear expectations, lead, coordinate, and train drivers on initiatives from Corporate and Divisional leaders.
- Work with maintenance department to ensure all equipment meets the DOT and CSA requirements.
- Monitor equipment to ensure all preventative maintenance and inspections are completed timely.
- Ensure all preventative maintenance obligations are consistently met and equipment meets the DOT and CSA requirements.
- Performs weekly equipment inspections.
- Performs semi-monthly driver ride along.
- Ensures all permit books for each tractor or truck are up to date.
- Monitors ELD and provides constructive feedback to drivers as necessary.
- Analyze facility budget requests, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement while identify areas in which cost reductions and program improvements can be made.
- Successfully manage employee performance while mentoring and guiding the overall growth of the transportation fleet.
- Manage new driver candidate road tests.
- Work with third-party transportation groups as needed.
- Keep the fleet in compliance and provide safe working conditions for our Team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 3 years or more of demonstrated hands-on supervisory experience is required.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
- Ability to analyze information and suggest improvements.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and time management skills.
- Understanding of CSA scores and DOT / HAZMAT requirements.
- Knowledge of hazardous, non-hazardous and universal waste.
- Knowledge of routing systems and efficient routing and scheduling.
- Knowledge tanker, roll-off, and van trailer use and maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Class A CDL with Hazmat endorsement and tanker endorsement experience, preferred.
- Bilingual preferred but not required.

The annual salary for this position is between $85,000-95,000
. This is a good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The final salary figure will take into account a variety of factors including experience, ability, and location. Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and these ranges should not be considered career salary limits or caps.
