Kosmos, an established food company near Saginaw, Michigan, is seeking a Transportation Manager to oversee compliance, DOT programs, and fleet operations across multiple states. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and regulatory adherence to support our logistics network.

You will administer DOT and non-DOT testing pools, manage driver files, track maintenance, and collaborate with safety and security teams.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience in transportation compliance or a related field.
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, bend, walk, climb stairs/ladders and wear PPE as needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret regulations and industry documents.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of time to various locations.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and continue to develop Department of Transportation programs for corporate compliance.
  • Manage DOT Driver Files for existing and new hires.
  • Develop and manage DOT hazardous material shipping compliance and DOTIBC compliance.
  • Oversee Hours of Service compliance and log reviews.
  • Stay current with industry developments and regulatory changes.
  • Analyze operator motor vehicle reports (MVR) for compliance with requirements.
  • Develop and manage Driver Policy Manual.

Job description

Established Food company near Saginaw, Michigan has a need for a Transportation Manager.

Duties include but are not limited to:
Corporate Department Responsibilities
  • Conduct oneself with integrity, considering the Company established business mission, vision, and values, to provide solution-based benefits for the company, its employees and its business partners.
  • Assist Director in conducting regular, well-organized and thorough reviews of Written Programs, Company Policies, Department Functions and Risk Controls
  • Provide guidance, develop tools and audit facilities to assist locations throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota, North Dakota and New York in achieving desired compliance related outcomes.
  • Participate in Merger and Acquisition (M&A) activities and other projects as assigned by Management Team
  • Conduct required training including but not limited to; New Hire Orientation, DOT Hazmat, Drug and Alcohol Supervisory Training, Driver New Hire Training,
  • Project Management, while managing change with deliberate speed, as determined by Management Team
  • Conduct incident and near-miss investigations and ensure completion of identified corrective actions.
  • Assist Safety and Security Director in Project implementation, daily and weekly functions
  • Actively Participate in outreach with local emergency responders and community stakeholders.
  • Assist in management of Corporate properties
Corporate Department of Transportation DOT Responsibilities
  • Administer and Continue to develop Department of Transportation Programs with objective of Corporate Compliance

  • Maintain Comprehensive Listing of Company Vehicles and Equipment
  • Maintain Vehicle Registrations for Company Units- Apportioned and Intrastate Registrations
  • Manage Vehicle Insurance Coverages
  • Manage Vehicle Accident Files
  • File Annual Highway Use tax information
  • Manage Annual Canadian Insurance Bond
  • Manage Canadian Border Services Agency Info
  • Manage Ontario Commercial Vehicle Operators Registration
  • Manage Fuel Tax Compliance
  • Manage Kosher Certification for Trailers
  • Manage Annual United Carrier Registration
  • Manage Transportation Maintenance Documentation Compliance
  • Assist in Management of fleet telematics systems
  • Manage Corporate Vehicle Pool
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • (3) years' experience in transportation compliance, trucking or a related field.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, bend, walk, climb stairs, climb ladders, work at heights, wear PPE, and emergency response equipment as needed
  • Ability to define problems, collect data and communicate effectively with employees and government agencies. Comfortable speaking to groups and teaching in a classroom environment.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret regulations or other industry documents.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Be willing to travel up to 20% of expected work time to locations which may involve overnight stays
